When your family eats junk but you're on a diet

I’ve got a gem of a Q&A for ya’ll this week. I hear this one so often and there’s always a way around it.
Q: I want to eat healthy, but my family eats junk.
A: There are a couple of layers here, I’ll break them down.

Unless they’re young children, you really can’t control what other people choose to put in their mouths. The simplest option is to just eat what works for you and don’t worry about choices that aren’t yours.
If other peoples’ habits constantly derail your progress, you’re probably relying too heavily on willpower and/or not eating enough of the right foods to keep yourself actually satisfied in the first place. I suggest loading up on protein, veggies and fat every time you sit down for a meal; you’ll quickly find turning down snacks or goodies becomes a lot easier.
If you don’t want to make two dinners every night (your healthy one and their no-so-healthy one), I suggest making extra protein and veggies that you can focus on and then just opt out of any sides that aren’t serving you. You could also try making some simple swaps. Ex: on pasta night, boil your own little pot of lentil pasta while you’re already at the stove.
You could also try getting your crew on board with some new, healthier meals. Even once a week is a great start. Try a new recipe, get a clean meal kit, go to a new restaurant with healthier options.
And my final tip: just stock the fridge and pantry with good stuff. If your family is hungry, they’ll eat it. Grab some cleaner swaps for their faves like:
Boulder Canyon chips instead of Lays
Poppi instead of soda
Keep pre-cooked proteins (grilled chicken, boiled eggs, etc.) ready in the fridge at all times
Have some Simple Mills brownies on the counter when they get home
Keep lots of fresh fruit and nuts available for snacks
