🍗 Nugget of the Week

If you’re looking at a nutrition facts label and wondering if it’s balanced or not, use my little macro math hack:

Total Carbs (gold) = Total Fat (mint) + Protein (tan)

Protein and fat should add up to somewhere around the total carb number. Here are two examples:

  1. 1 slice of Ezekial bread = 15g carb, 0.5g fat, 4g protein. 0.5 + 4 = 4.5 so you need to add ~10g fat and/or protein to balance it out.

  2. 3 eggs = 1.5g carb, 14g fat, 17g protein. 14 + 17 = 31 so you can afford a slice of toast (~15g carb) and ¾ cup berries (~15g carb) to go with the eggs.

Make sense? Great.
