For anyone whose NY’s resolutions include something health-related, this post is for you. The best things you can do to stick to your plan include 1) getting solid guidance, 2) doing some basic meal prep, and 3) arming yourself with tools that will actually help move the needle.

Guidance

  1. Me (duh)! If you’ve been thinking of working with a dietitian, but just haven’t made an appt, here’s a gentle nudge to go for it. I do video sessions, take insurance and promise to not take away everything you love. Reply to this email or call the office and I’ll get you scheduled 🙂 732.842.3050

  2. The Red Bank Family Medicine provider team. If you want some baseline stats in your “before” file, I suggest making an appointment for bloodwork and a physical if you haven’t had one in a while. Check back in 3-6 months to see how well your hard work worked.

  3. Healthline.com- If you’re a chronic learner and want to read about nutrition / health, I suggest this website as a trusted source.

Meal Prep

  1. Map out your weekly meals on paper or use an app like Ohai.

  2. Choose simple meals- the fewer ingredients, the better. Don’t over-complicate this or make the task dreadful or you’ll be over it in a week or two.

  3. Schedule your batch-cooking sessions. Invite friends over and make it a weekly event, add it to your calendar like a can’t-miss meeting; do whatever it takes to stick to carving out that time once a week.

  4. Use alllll the time-saving tools. Crockpots, instant pots, and food processors will be your new best friends.

  5. Use frozen and canned foods to save time.

  6. Freeze anything you won’t use within four days and don’t forget to label and date everything.

Tools

  1. Crockpot, instant pot, air fryer, food processor

  2. BPA-free storage containers

  3. A mini cooler or lunch box for work / school days
