🍗 Nugget of the Week
This past week I was stalking a couple of local “health food” joints to give you a list of RD-approved breakfast / lunch / dinner spots and was stopped in my tracks by one particular menu with the label “suitable for diabetics” on a bowl of oatmeal with 60 carbs.
Sixty!
In one small 330 calorie item. That is NOT suitable for diabetics. They also claim it has 34 grams of protein which raises blood sugar, too.
Please don’t blindly believe what you read on food labels or in restaurants. If you’re counting carbs, meals should be around 30 carbs each and paired with FAT not protein. Of course you can have protein with it, but the carb / fat pairing is the most important for balancing blood sugar.

Goodpop- if you love a sweet, cool treat on summer nights, I love this brand. My favorite is the creamsicle because it’s made with coconut milk so the carb / fat balance is spot on.
