2 Cold + flu season diet tricks for less mucus 🤢

  1. Cut waaaay back on carbs.

The metabolic process of digesting carbs results in CO2 production which puts lungs to work. Give them a break by basing meals around protein, fat and veggies until symptoms improve—or forever, really.

  1. Eat more salt.

Salt helps break up mucus, so don’t be afraid of having a little extra sodium in some chicken soup (sans noodles), almond flour crackers or sprinkled on your meals here and there. And of course don’t forget to drink plenty of water while you’re at it to keep that dreadful green sludge as thin as possible.

A few low carb + salty ideas:

  1. Amy’s Kitchen veggie soups (throw some rotisserie chicken in for protein)

  2. Pickles

  3. Simple Mills almond flour crackers

  4. Omelets topped with salted tomato slices

  5. Siete chips

  6. Bone broth
