Q+A
Q: I need help losing weight. I have an upcoming hip surgery so I’m just sitting on my butt and not really exercising.
A: Luckily diet is king when it comes to weight loss. You can absolutely make a lot of progress on the scale without working out. I suggest really watching carbs while focusing on protein, veggies and healthy fat at meals. If you have arthritis, follow my low inflammation tips to ease some of that joint pain while you’re waiting for surgery. And if there’s a part of your body you CAN move, use it! If lower body is out, try grabbing a lightweight set of dumbbells for some upper body toning and metabolism boosting. If upper body is out, get outside for some mood-boosting walks.
